Mr. Richard Abram

Welcome to Algebra!

Mathematics Department
The Dr. Charles E Brimm Medical Arts High School Mathematics Department strives to help the students of Camden, New Jersey achieve the following goals in Mathematics:
  • to develop the ability to think logically and apply mathematical concepts to daily life situations.
  • to prepare students adequately for college.
  • to afford each student the opportunity to work with computers and calculators and to function properly in a world that requires their use.
In today’s society, a solid foundation in Mathematics has become a cornerstone in the road to achievement and success. As both a prerequisite for college admission and a valuable tool for daily life, mathematical knowledge is emphasized from students’ freshman thru senior year. It is required of Brimm students to take at least four math courses throughout their high school career, with a fifth course being optional for seniors. Traditionally these courses are taken in the following order: Algebra 1, Geometry & Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Calculus (optional).
Through teamwork and collaboration, the Brimm Mathematics Department Staff maintains a standard of excellence year to year. Our students continually excel on district, state, and national standardized tests, and with the implementation of new programs, remain on the forefront of advancements in technology.
With the district’s commitment to the Common Core State Standards, the Mathematics Department strives to make the transition for both students and teachers as smooth as possible through continual professional developments and workshops. Further, as the stakes rise each year for the annual PARCC test, the Brimm Math Department is remaining steadfast in our understanding of and student preparation for this challenging test.
I look forward to working with you this year!
